Grilled steak topped with seasoned shrimp in creamy sauce

🥩🍤 Steak in Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce (Surf and Turf)

📝 Ingredients (Serves 2)

For the Steak

🥩 Ribeye or sirloin steaks – 2 (about 200–250 g each)

🧂 Salt & freshly ground black pepper – to taste

🫒 Olive oil – 2 tbsp

🧈 Butter – 1 tbsp

For the Cajun Shrimp Sauce

🍤 Large shrimp – 250 g, peeled & deveined

🧄 Garlic – 3 cloves, minced

🧅 Shallot or small onion – 1, finely chopped

🌶 Cajun seasoning – 2 tbsp (store-bought or homemade)

🥛 Heavy cream – 200 ml (¾ cup)

🍋 Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

🧈 Butter – 2 tbsp

🌿 Fresh parsley – chopped, for garnish

🍳 Method

1️⃣ Cook the Steak

Let steaks sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.

Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat.

Sear steaks for 3–4 minutes per side (for medium-rare), or until desired doneness.

Add butter and baste steaks for the last minute.

Remove steaks and let rest covered loosely with foil.

2️⃣ Prepare the Cajun Shrimp Sauce

In the same skillet, add butter over medium heat.

Sauté garlic and shallot until soft and fragrant (about 2 minutes).

Add shrimp and sprinkle Cajun seasoning; cook shrimp until pink and cooked through (about 3 minutes).

Pour in heavy cream and lemon juice.

Simmer sauce for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.

3️⃣ Serve

Plate steaks and spoon creamy Cajun shrimp sauce generously over the top.

Garnish with fresh parsley.

💡 Tips & Tricks

For extra smoky flavor, grill the steak instead of pan-searing.

Adjust Cajun seasoning to control spice level.

Serve with garlic mashed potatoes or roasted veggies for a full meal.

Result: A perfect balance of rich, juicy steak and spicy, creamy shrimp sauce — classic surf and turf with a Cajun twist. 😋🥩🍤🔥
